Their products were sold throughout Germany. The porcelain factory stamped its wares "Made in the GDR" or made in the German Democratic Republic in 1949, during the Cold War. At the same time, West German companies reflected the country's division by marking its wares "Made in West Germany." Two years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the company went bankrupt. In 1994, it was refounded as KAHLA/Thüringen Porzellan GmbH and since 2000 KAHLA has been held by the Raithel family.
