A vintage / antique warming plate. Hot water was poured into the base via the spout to keep food warm. One can find these with either pewter or silver plated bases and quite often with blue and white china such as this lovely Wedgwood plate (9 1/4" wide). Base marked (see last photo. Hung on a wall in a kitchen this is a great display and conversation piece. Very nice condition: See photos.
